On the beach at Long Hai, Phuoc Thuy Province, probably about 1967. I was the only foreigner living there at that time. The three United States advisers had been killed on the road to Baria some time before and not replaced. The nights were rather spooky, I was the only guest in a large hotel. Driving to work at the camp, Van Kiep, I usually chose to position myself about fifty yards behind a large lorry taking fish into the market at Saigon. The principle being that if the road were mined the truck would go up and not me.
The photo is of women gathered around the catch that fishermen were selling.
