Tay Ninh. Home of the Cao Dai & Nui Ba Den

Tay Ninh, 1965
Decca Navigator Systems had a post in Tay Ninh. It was known as Slave Station Red.
The town was known for its Cao Dai temple and Nui Ba Den; the Mountain of the Black Virgin.
It is also referred to in Graham Green’s novel The Quiet American which was one of the first books I read to inform myself about Vietnam.
I also travelled the road by car with Bao once although when working I always flew there. The road was so bad we had to travel there and back mostly in second gear.
The pictures give the image of a more or less peaceful life for these young boys. Indeed they are just about of an age when they might have escaped the conflict altogether but it’s unlikely.
