The waif and her mongrel. Memories of Vietnam
Looking at this photo one could get the impression of some poor little waif holding her only possession in this world, a mongrel of dubious origin. It could very well be the opening scene of some silent Chaplinesque film.
The photo was taken somewhere in a country called French Indo-China in the early nineteen forties. The country was probably occupied by the Imperial Japanese army in it's quest to set up its Greater East Asian Co-prosperity sphere.
