The New Zealander. Memories of Vietnam

She was from New Zealand and had married a post graduate Vietnamese student. I think he had a doctorate in electrical engineering. One of those people who's house was full of electrical appliances but nothing ever worked as they were all continuously stripped down as he ironed out minor technical problems. He avoided the army because of his job but was meant to do Home Guard service with the Peoples Self Defense Force but paid a young boy to do it for him which I thought a pretty poor show.

This New zealander and I evidently had a lot in common. We had both been scared by the same films when we were young. Under Capricorn and Green for Danger. We had also wondered why we had kept hearing how the British and ANZAC forces were killing so many gorillas in Malaya. That must have been in the late 1940s or early 1950s.

I imagine she must have got out of Saigon before the fall but I never knew what happened to her.
