I saw on television yesterday that two people, a father and son, had been killed in a fair ground accident. During the program they showed all sorts of contraptions that people went around in seeking more and more thrills. I've never had any time for it myself. I'm not sure my nerves would take it but certainly my common sense would forbid it.
It is possible that for my parents generation and perhaps most people of mine there were enough 'thrills' to be found in the daily course of life, or more correctly our wars that there was no need to go seeking them elsewhere.
Of course there are wars today, but there is very little or no conscription in the western world and those that participate in wars must be in a minority. To break one's neck out hunting was always considered socially acceptable. To do it in some foolhardy thrill seeking fun thing completely stupid.
