Moving house. Phan Thiet. 1968. Memories of Vietnam
There were many refugees making their way from one side of town largely held by the Viet Cong over the bridge to our side, largely held by government forces.
The cyclo-pousse was an admirable means of transport in such times although I've always wondered at the sight of people taking their mattresses along. I've been so used to sleeping on the ground myself I've always thought it an enormous waste of space and energy.
I wondered at the time where the man in the photo had left his arm.
