Chow's up. Phan Thiet. Memories of Vietnam
South Vietnamese soldiers, ARVN, take a break to cook their meal. They were much better off than their Viet Cong opponents who really new hunger. Local chickens did have a tendency to disappear when they were around but I've always been a believer in soldiers looking after their stomachs so long as they do not treat the population brutally.
Generally I found them very decent fellows. As with any military there were times when individuals or groups got out of hand and there were units I avoided. That was not the case in Phan Thiet. It was the local population perhaps who were none too happy to see their property destroyed whilst being saved by the Americans.
